Purpose of Missions - - At Berean Bible Church the purpose of missions is to fulfill the Great Commission of Christ:

Matthew 28:19-20 - - "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Mark 16:15 - - And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation."

John 20:21 - - Jesus therefore said to them again, "Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you."

Luke 24:46-49 - - And He said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day; and that repentance for forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem".

Acts 1:8 - - "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

LOCAL OUTREACH

BBC is also implementing various strategies to impact the Knoxville Community. Currently our members are involved in ministry in Yoakley School, an alternative school for troubled teens. Involvement includes weekly visits to classrooms for reading times, crafts and building relationships.

BBC also works closely with the Knoxville Compassion Coalition in various capacities most notably the Furniture Ministry. Members make themselves available to assist in the delivery of used furniture to the needy in our city.

U.S. MISSIONS

BBC believes that missions in the United States are an integral part of seeing God's kingdom advance to the entire world.  Currrently we provide regular financial support for missionaries in places such as Tennessee, New York, and Arizona.  Our missionaries are involved in God's Umbrella, Child Evangelism Fellowship, Children's Bible Mission, Athletes in Action, and New Tribes. 

FOREIGN MISSIONS

BBC has a history of involvement with foreign missions since its very early days.  We believe at BBC that God is most glorified when all the nations give Him praise and glory.  With that in mind, we actively seek to engage in our missionaries' lives and ministries.  We support missionaries in eight different countries, maintaining close personal contact and seeking opportunities to partner together for short-term missions activities, missions conferences and personal visits.  We are encouraged that five families from BBC are a part of those we support financially on foreign mission fields.

SHORT-TERM MISSIONS

BBC believes that short term mission projects educate and excite people to consider full-time missions involvement.  Two teams traveled to India this past summer, working with our missionaries in building projects and teaching opportunities.
